Our story

Three decades of American manufacturing — reinvested in the planet.

NextGen Bioplastics didn't start in a lab. It started on a Pennsylvania factory floor, in a family business that has been making things in America for over 35 years. Today, we're using that same discipline to build the packaging the food industry has been waiting for.

Timeline

How a manufacturer became a materials company.

  1. 35 Years Ago
    The plant opens

Our family opens a manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania — the beginning of three decades of large-scale production for household American brands.

  2. 2010s
    Sustainability becomes the brief

Customers start asking for lower-carbon, plant-based alternatives. We start researching bio-materials in-house.

  3. 2022
    The hemp breakthrough

Working with local growers, we prove that American-grown hemp can be molded into a food-grade, compostable container at commercial scale.

  4. Today
    NextGen Bioplastics ships

The Hemp Container Collection is now in the hands of food brands, distributors, and restaurant groups across the U.S.
